Markov properties for systems described by PDEs and first-order representations

چکیده
The relation between Markovianity and representability by means of first-order PDEs is investigated. We consider two versions of the Markovian property, weak and strong-Markovianity. The weak version has been introduced in [J.C. Willems, State and first-order representations, in: V.D. Blondel, A. Megretski (Eds.), Unsolved Problems in Mathematical Systems & Control Theory, Princeton University Press, Princeton, NJ, 2004, pp. 54–57] and conjectured to correspond to first-order representations. We provide a counterexample to this conjecture. For finitedimensional behaviors, strong-Markovianity is proven to be indeed equivalent to the representability by means of first-order PDEs with a special structure. © 2005 Elsevier B.V. Using Markov Chain to Analyze Production Lines Systems with Layout Constraints
There are some problems with estimating the time required for the manufacturing process of products, especially when there is a variable serving time, like control stage. These problems will cause overestimation of process time. Layout constraints, reworking constraints and inflexible product schedule in multi product lines need a precise planning to reduce volume in particular situation of lin...
متن کاملBoundary Feedback Control of Coupled Hyperbolic Linear PDEs Systems with Nonlinear Boundary Conditions
We try to stabilize equilibrium solutions of physical models described by a class of coupled first-order linear partial differential equations with nonlinear boundary conditions. These systems are distributed parameter systems in which spatio-temporal chaos occurs. In order to stabilize the equilibrium solutions of the systems, at first, we reduce the PDEs to discrete-time systems using the met...
متن کاملAn efficient approach for availability analysis through fuzzy differential equations and particle swarm optimization
This article formulates a new technique for behavior analysis of systems through fuzzy Kolmogorov's differential equations and Particle Swarm Optimization. For handling the uncertainty in data, differential equations have been formulated by Markov modeling of system in fuzzy environment. First solution of these derived fuzzy Kolmogorov's differential equations has been found by Runge-Kutta four...
متن کاملEvaluation of First and Second Markov Chains Sensitivity and Specificity as Statistical Approach for Prediction of Sequences of Genes in Virus Double Strand DNA Genomes
Growing amount of information on biological sequences has made application of statistical approaches necessary for modeling and estimation of their functions. In this paper, sensitivity and specificity of the first and second Markov chains for prediction of genes was evaluated using the complete double stranded DNA virus. There were two approaches for prediction of each Markov Model parameter,...
متن کاملNew evolution equations for the joint response-excitation probability density function of stochastic solutions to first-order nonlinear PDEs
By using functional integral methods we determine new types of differential equations satisfied by the joint response excitation probability density function associated with the stochastic solution to first-order nonlinear scalar PDEs. The theory is developed for arbitrary fully nonlinear and for quasilinear first-order stochastic PDEs subject to random boundary conditions, random initial condi...
